Common Conditions

Just as the examination of the eye can reveal a variety of medical problems involving other parts of the body, many medical problems can affect the visual system itself. While there are entire textbooks devoted to this subject, this page is devoted to selected medical problems and how they affect the eye and vision.

FAQ’S

We do. If you wear contact lenses, please bring your lenses along with your prescription and lens specifications to the exam. There is a fitting fee based on the type of contact lens you require.

Your protected health information (PHI) is confidential. We will share only the information necessary to facilitate your care and to process insurance claims, bills, glasses and medical prescriptions.
We accept cash, checks, VISA, MasterCard and Discover. If you believe you will be unable to make full payment of your billed charges, please talk with us about payment arrangements. Bills not paid within 30 days of the bill date will be assessed a $5.00 rebilling fee.

Please plan to arrive 5-10 minutes prior to your appointment time so that we may update your records. Also, bring your insurance cards, a list of any medicines you take, your glasses and/or contact lenses, and any papers we previously mailed you.  If you want to save time by filling out the Patient Information Form ahead of time, please download it here.

Our staff will be happy to estimate the cost of your visit based on the reason you give us. However, this is only an estimate. The staff will not know what the doctor may diagnose in the course of an examination and whether other tests or treatments may be needed.

Our automated call system will attempt to dial your home phone number 2-3 days prior to your visit to remind you of the doctor, location, date and time of your visit.

Because policies differ, it is the patient’s responsibility to determine if their specific policy will cover the cost of “routine exams”, refractions, special tests or surgeries. Any allowable amount not paid by your insurance will be billed directly to you, (including deductibles, co-pays, and any non-covered services.)
